Four Steps for Maximum Fly Control

1. Manure Management

Removing manure from stalls and surrounding areas on a regular basis will help eliminate flies. Composting waste, repairing leaking waster and keeping food storage dry will also help eliminate pesky flies! For enhanced manure management use Pro-Biotica Beneficial Microorganisms. Pro-Biotica consists of naturally occurring microorganisms that work together to decompose organic matter in soils, manure and compost.

2. Maggot Control

Beneficial Nematodes for control of Fly Larvae, Ants, Grubs, Cockroaches, Gnats, Caterpillars, Termites, and Fleas!! Beneficial Nematodes are microscopic, non-segmented worms that occur naturally in soil throughout the world. Once released, the nematodes seek out maggots and enter through body openings and emit a toxin that kills pests within 48 hours. Beneficial Nematodes are shipped in an easily dissolved clay formulation that is mixed with water. The solution can be applied to "hot spot" areas, compost, manure piles, and favorite manuring and urinating sites; using a watering can, hose end, backpack or pump sprayer or through irrigation or misting systems.

3. Pupal Control

Fly Parasites are gnat-sized, nocturnal, burrowing insects in the wasp family, that do not bite, sting, or harm humans or animals. They kill flies in the developing pupae stage, eliminating the adult fly! Parasites reproduce in two to three weeks, constantly reinforcing the beneficial insect population. The Fly Parasites range is up to a 50 foot radius in its search for fly pupae to destroy. Shipped as parasitized pupae in sawdust, small handfuls are dispersed every 1 to 4 weeks on: manure piles; under water troughs; along fence lines; below bedding; in corners of pens and paddocks, and feeding sites. Cover with dirt or manure for protection of the pupae.

4. Adult Fly Control

The migrating adult fly can travel up to ½ mile. The use of Solar Fly Traps, Insect-A-Peel and Aloe Herbal Horse Spray when added to your parasite program will help keep your horses comfortable and fly free.

BIOLOGICAL CONTROLS FOR GARDEN PESTS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE

*It is important to remember that Fly Parasites are very sensitive to any pesticides. They are naturally occurring in our environment; however our use of insecticides, herbicides and fungicides will decimate their populations.
